What is the Hillwood Neighborhood Association?

Shoreline consists of 14 neighborhoods that were created when the city incorporated in 1995. Hillwood is one of those neighborhoods, and consists of all residents living in the boundaries of our neighborhood. There is no registration and no fee to be a member of the neighborhood.

Hillwood is represented by the Hillwood Neighborhood Association (abbreviated HNA), a registered 501(c) non-profit. The HNA maintains a volunteer board, and coordinates free community events and projects per our bylaws.

1) Foster a community of Hillwood neighbor-members dedicated to preserving and improving our neighborhood through responsible and sustainable practices as a community-driven, volunteer-run, nonprofit organization.

2) Provide neighborhood representation with the Council of Neighborhoods, (often referred to as the “CON”) and as a conduit of information with the City of Shoreline. [Note: the CON is undergoing changes. Our by-laws will be updated to reflect these changes.]

3) Participate in any and all lawful activities which foster positive neighborhood connections through activities, volunteer projects, grant acquisitions, etc., toward support of building cohesiveness, and enhanced pleasure for Hillwood neighbor-members.

The Hillwood Neighborhood Association (HNA) is a non-profit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Washington to:

Hillwood is bounded to the north by 205th Street/244th Street (Snohomish-King County border), to the south by Richmond Beach Road, to the west by 8th Ave NW, and to the east by Aurora Avenue N.

Hillwood Neighborhood Association Values

Strengthen the Community

We strive to facilitate meaningful connections, a sense of belonging, and collective responsibility among neighbors. We seek to do this through organizing social events, ongoing projects, volunteer opportunities, and connecting neighbors to resources.

Be Environmental Stewards

Our projects include work to remove invasive plants along neighborhood trails, plant native plants, host litter pick -ups, and support City of Shoreline sustainability goals. As Hillwood residents, we all enjoy a robust and beautiful tree canopy that is one of the unique features of our neighborhood.

Foster Safety and Well-Being

We are dedicated to creating a safe and friendly environment where all residents can enjoy a high quality of life. Some of the ways we achieve this tenant are by improving walking trails and sharing earthquake preparedness resources.

Share Resources

We aim to promote awareness of the opportunities, community resources, and events in the greater Shoreline area. The Hillwood website, social media channels, and the Hillwood Neighborhood Association meetings are avenues for transparent and reliable information.

Have Fun

The through-line of all neighborhood efforts. A good conversation with a neighbor is one of the surest ways to feel optimistic and invested in the place you live, as is creating positive memories for everyone that lives in our community.
